Message of Regional Governor Mujiv S. Hataman on Ramadan 2017
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
I send my warmest greetings to my fellow Muslims as we welcome the holy month of Ramadan.
Ramadan has always been a time for Muslim families and communities to come together and observe the spiritual obligations enjoined during this month.
It is heartbreaking to note that our brothers and sisters in Marawi City will be welcoming the Ramadan away from home and filled with anxiety. I’d like to reassure them that the Autonomous Regional Government is working in solidarity with other government agencies and private institutions to ensure their safety and welfare and help restore normalcy in the city. Let us include them in our thoughts and prayers.
Ramadan is an opportunity for us Muslims to deepen our faith and introspect as we submit ourselves in devotion to the grace and mercy of The Almighty Allah. We strengthen our mind, body and character with each day of fasting, prayers and the other rituals.
As one of the pillars of Islam, fasting is more than just abstinence, it teaches us to be generous, kind-hearted and forgiving. Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said that Ramadan is the month of mercy and forgiveness.
May the observance of Ramadan help us improve the bond and relationship we have with our kin, friends and neighbors and people of other faiths. Let us spread the message of respect, benevolence and tolerance as we join our family and community in iftars and prayers.
Ramadan Mubarak to one and all!
