Two-day DSWD-ARMM Convergence Caravan held in Sulu
Led by the regional Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD-ARMM) a Convergence Caravan was held in the province of Sulu last October 6-7.
The caravan began with a motorcade in downtown Jolo and culminated in an opening program held at the Notre Dame Gymnasium in Martirez, Jolo, Sulu.
In his message during the event, Regional Vice Governor Haroun Alrashid A. Lucman, Jr. said that they converged all the programs of DSWD-ARMM to address the increasing poverty incidence in Sulu.
Sulu Governor Abdusakur Tan II welcomed DSWD-ARMM in his message during the event and praised the agency for being an active partner of the Sulu Provincial Government in alleviating poverty in the province.
Selected beneficiaries of various poverty alleviation efforts in the province gave testimonials and shared their experiences during the event. Said efforts include PAMANA-CDD in Parang, ARMM-BRIDGE in Talipao, and 4Ps in Tapul.
Part of the progam was a ceremonial payout for social pension beneficiaries from Jolo, food distribution for beneficiaries from Talipao, and relief distribution and turn-over of livelihood facilities for Pangutaran and Patikul.
An orientation for local government units on the revised guidelines of supplementary feeding program were conducted the next day, along with an open forum and field demonstration. Supplementary feeding for day care children in Latih and Anuling, Patikul and Search for Ginang Pantawid 2016 were also held on the same day.
The DSWD Regional Office staff were present on the two-day event, along with with DSWD-ARMM Assistant Secretary for Operation Darwin Rasul III and Assistant Secretary for Administration Pombaen Kader. (Bureau of Public Information)
