Job fair benefits over 1,000 out-of-school youth in Maguindanao
Cotabato City (03 October 2014) – The Basic Education Assistance for Mindanao (BEAM-ARMM) has organized a two-day job fair on Wednesday to help the more than 1,000 graduates this year of its Technical Vocational Education Training (TVET) from Maguindanao secure employment.
A number of local and overseas recruitment agencies and some companies took part in the event along with government agencies like the Department of Labor and Employment, Philippine Overseas Employment Agency (POEA), Department of Foreign Affairs and the Philippine Statistics Authority.
The event was dubbed as the Youth Employability Service (YES) for Maguindanao.
Participants were provided with an orientation on employment and a one-stop processing center for local and overseas pre-employment prerequisites such as NBI clearance and authenticated birth certificate.
Under its TVET program component, BEAM-ARMM trained more than 1,000 out-of-school youth from Maguindanao in July this year on technical-vocational courses like computer hardware servicing, cellphone repair, consumer electronics, small engine motorcycle servicing, electrical installation and maintenance, and food processing.
Similar trainings will also be conducted in other ARMM provinces. The program aims to bring equal opportunity for livelihood and employment to youth from poor families. (Bureau of Public Information)
