Cotabato City (24 October 2014) – The Department of Trade and Industry in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (DTI-ARMM) conducted a symposium on consumer rights and responsibilities today in this city as part of the region’s celebration of the Consumer Welfare Month.
The symposium was attended by different officials of DTI and the ARMM and participants from non-government organizations and the academe.
SakiranHajan, DTI-ARMM secretary, said: “This symposium will provide additional information and will help increase awareness on consumer rights and responsibilities.”
He said they will be conducting promotional activities such as poster making and quiz bee in different schools in the ARMM to promote consumer rights and responsibilities.
During the symposium, DTI-ARMM also provided update on the Fair Trade Law, which is aimed at enhancing the trading system by improving the relationship between producers and consumers, encouraging them to go beyond the buyer and seller relationship.
